Champagne delivered in the shake of a smartphone on Virgin ship Scarlet Lady

Sir Richard Branson demonstrates how the app works

Fancy a glass of champagne? All you will have to do on new Virgin Voyages ship Scarlet Lady is shake your phone to have a bottle of Moët Impérial delivered to wherever you are.

A feature of the cruise line’s app means that simply rattling your handset calls up a red button allowing you to order your bubbly on the all-adult ship. The bottle will arrive in a Virgin red champagne bucket with two glasses.

Virgin Voyages has also revealed details of its champagne lounge and caviar bar called Sip, which will serve all sizes of fizz from a $9 glass to a $1,000 vintage bottle.

The venue, which will have a long marble bar with rose-gold inlay, will also serve traditional British afternoon tea.

‘It is never too early for champagne and there is always something to toast to while aboard Scarlet Lady. We want our sailors to enjoy a glamorous holiday and what better way to feel like a RockStar than a sip of bubbly whenever and wherever you want it,’ said Tom McAlpin, president and CEO of Virgin Voyages.
