Raising a glass: Joe Fattorini and Amelia Singer on Celebrity Eclipse

Celebrity Cruises is teaming up with TV experts to ensure passengers have ‘the best wine experience’ at sea.

A team from The Wine Show will help ‘bring wine to life’ for guests on board the line’s ships.

At an event in London, Celebrity’s UK and Ireland managing director Jo Rzymowska said the fleet had one of the largest cellars afloat.

‘We’re passionate about doing whatever we can to ensure that those who enjoy the finer things in life only travel with one cruise line, and that’s Celebrity Cruises,’ she said. ‘We take people to the most beautiful destinations in the world and make sure they have the best experience ever, including the best food and wine.’

Passionate about wine: Joe Fattorini at the event in London

The TV team, lead by ‘Obi Wine Kenobi’ Joe Fattorini, will advise on wine lists and organise onboard tastings and vineyard shore excursions. Fellow wine expert Amelia Singer will join Celebrity Eclipse for a two-night sailing from Southampton to Le Havre on May 19-21 next year. She will then be paired with Joe for voyages in the autumn where they will share their stories and help guests savour the annual wine harvest.

Jo Rzymowska said: ‘We know our guests share our passion for food and wine so we’re extremely excited about how our new partnership will enhance their relationship with the destinations they visit.’

Celebrity, which offers its own label, Elegance, by Californian vineyard Kendall-Jackson, has received the Wine Spectator award for excellence for its wine lists for four years in a row. By the end of next month it will offer wine-blending classes across the fleet, allowing guests to take home personalised bottles of their own creations.

The Wine Show airs in Britain on ITV and ITV4, as well in many other countries across the world.

And Joe’s top tip? Remove white wines from the fridge 20 minutes before serving – and put reds in the fridge for 20 minutes before opening.
