It’s now only 100 days until Celebrity Apex makes its debut as the first Celebrity Cruises ship to be launched in the UK for ten years.

The second ship in the Celebrity Edge class will begin sailing from Southampton from April 1, 2020, with a mini-season of European destinations including the Mediterranean and the Norwegian fjords.

Its first voyage will be a four-night ‘preview’ round trip to Zeebrugge and Amsterdam, followed by an eight-night ‘inaugural’ cruise on April 5 to Spain and Portugal, including stops at Bilbao, Lisbon, Porto and the French port of Le Havre.

Other sailings from Southampton will include ten-night voyages to northern Europe and a seven-night trip to Norway. For full itineraries, click here.

Like Celebrity Edge, launched last year, the 2,900-passenger Celebrity Apex will feature the Magic Carpet venue that moves up and down the side of the ship, the entertainment space Eden and accommodation designed by former Dragons’ Den star Kelly Hoppen.

The last Celebrity Cruises ship to be named in the UK was Celebrity Eclipse in 2010.

I have been invited on a shipyard visit to Celebrity Apex in France on January 28, when the first steel will also be cut for the third vessel in the Edge class, Celebrity Beyond. Follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook for pictures and updates.
