I’ll be aboard the exciting new Norwegian Breakaway as it sails from Rotterdam on Sunday for inaugural celebrations in Southampton next week. Follow my tweets on @shipmonk.

Here are some key facts and figures about the New York-themed ship:

  • £520million cost
  • 144,000 tonnes
  • 4,000 passengers
  • Five multi-storey waterslides with a total length of 400 metres
  • 40mph – the speed you drop down Free Fall, the fastest waterslide at sea
  • 8ft – the distance over the side of the ship of The Plank. Dare you walk it?

  • Three – number of storeys in sports complex
