Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth is to be given a major refurb ahead of her Alaska and Caribbean seasons next year.

The 2,000-passenger ship will be refitted from February 25 to March 13 in Singapore ahead of her first sailings from Seattle in June and a debut voyage from Miami to the Caribbean in October. It will be the first time in Cunard’s history that one of the fleet will spend a full season in the Florida port.

 Changes on the 14-year-old ship will include:

  • Queens Room: A refreshed design with a new dance floor, soft furnishings and furniture;
  • Commodore Club: New furniture, fixtures and fittings;
  • Pavilion Pool: A new Wellness Café with expanded food and drink offerings, a stylish bar and new poolside furniture;
  • Grills Lounge, Terrace, and Restaurant: Upgrades with refreshed decor throughout;
  • Stateroom and suites: Each room will have enhanced in-room entertainment as well as new USB ports, balcony furniture, mattresses and soft furnishings.

The Grills dining experience will also be enhanced by a three-course Gala Evening menu created by Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux.

I had the chance to taste a sample dinner at a Cunard media event at The Langham, London. My verdict: Outstanding!

Michel said: ‘Each dish is carefully created to celebrate the finest ingredients, ensuring every meal is as special as the voyage itself. I’m incredibly fond of my partnership with Cunard and I’m really excited to continue this luxury collaboration in 2025.’

The Pavilion Wellness Café debuted earlier this year on Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne.  It will serve a breakfast, lunch and daytime menu featuring plant-based cuisine alongside sustainably sourced meet, fish and dairy.

Cunard president Katie McAlister said: ‘As Queen Elizabeth prepares for her highly anticipated debut seasons in the Caribbean from Miami and Alaska from Seattle, this transformation marks an exciting new chapter for Cunard.

‘We are especially excited to introduce the exclusive Gala Evening menu, crafted by Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux. This remarkable addition will elevate the Grills dining experience to even greater heights, and we can’t wait for our guests to experience it.’

Cunard announced this week that it had achieved record-breaking bookings in 2024. From January 1 to October 31, sales were up 73,000, or 23 per cent, on the same period in 2023.
