A table for two to dine on delicious food while watching the sun set over the ship’s wake? That’s the romantic new experience you can enjoy in Love By Britto on Sun Princess.
Everything – the cutlery, napkin and especially the food – has heart shapes, just in case you’re in any doubt that this is the perfect place for a date night.
Its position at the aft of deck 17 on the latest Princess Cruises ship gives it great views to admire as you tuck into a tasting menu of four courses – amuse-bouche, appetiser, entrée and dessert – along with a glass of prosecco to start and a mid-meal refresher of pink champagne and rose petals.

The menu, decor and setting are a joint creation by Brazilian artist Romero Britto and award-winning chef Rudi Sodamin. I understand the delay in introducing the 68-seat venue was down to wanting to get everything just perfect before opening – and the menu was also cut from seven courses to make it more manageable.
So is the experience worth the $79-a-person supplement? Well, I certainly felt the vibe even sitting at a table for four with friends looking out over Southampton cranes while the ship wasn’t moving.

I began with the pumpkin ricotta ravioli with carrot foam (the alternative was oyster with lemongrass kafir, mirin and gold flakes).
This was followed by a salad of beets, figs and goat cheese in preference to tuna and avocado, pomegranate and togarashi.
Main course was a duet of prime beef and Wagyu, cracked pepper and red wine reduction. I could also have picked a Chilean sea bass with caviar mousseline and pea puree or oven-baked veggies with mozzarella.

Finally, my dessert was artisan cheese with honeycomb, though I could have had chocolate lava cake, fresh berries and raspberry cream or assorted fresh berries with sabayon.
The whole experience was exquisite. By the end I was seeing hearts everywhere – in the carrots, the bottom of the champagne glass and in the dainty chocolates served as a final flourish.
Love By Britto is one of the new features of Sun Princess, which also offers the mesmerising magic show of Spellbound and carnivores’ delight, The Butcher’s Block by Dario.
During a special evening showing off the ship to UK travel agents and media, we were treated to a performance by Eurovision star Sam Ryder in the Arena theatre and a set by DJ Scott Mills in the glass Dome at the front of the ship.
