Mylène Paquette, a 35-year-old Canadian, has completed her ambitious 5,000km attempt to cross the Atlantic single-handed by canoe.
She arrived off the coast of Brittany at 11.09am local time this morning and later entered the port of Lorient.
She said: ‘I’m very, very exhausted, tired, but very, very, very happy.’
Her first plans on reaching dry land were to hug her family and friends, open a bottle of champagne and have a good meal in a restaurant, according to a report by Radio Canada.
During her 129-day voyage, Mylène was aided by Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 after she lost a satellite phone and sea anchor during a storm. Supplies were floated out to her as cheering passengers lined the decks.
